I personally love the positive news spin… we could all use more of that 🫶

Story Time
My husband and I got out of town for the weekend, just the two of us. We’re traveling on the DC beltway and onto 95 where the highway spans 8-ish lanes if you include the expressway.
The map lady could not keep up.
The navigation was not able to tell difference between express lanes, regular lanes, and exit lanes, causing us to end up in the wrong lane. đź«
It felt like that scene from The Office where the gps says “turn right” and Michael Scott turns right without thinking twice… right into the lake.

Instead of really reading the signs, we were listening to the map lady. And it’s typically too late once you realize she’s steering you wrong.
Technology is great, don’t get me wrong. It amazes me that the career I have had over the past 10 years didn’t exist in the way it does now when I was taking those career quizzes in high school.
But we might be leaning on it a little too hard and expecting a little too much from it all.
Here’s my other unpopular opinion → AI isn’t all that.
AI will never have human experience, empathy, and real-life considerations.
It can certainly spit out menus and workouts, but it can’t help you pivot based on what you’re going through and how you’re feeling.
But a (real human) coach can help you navigate real life and in real time.
Don’t Feel Bad If Your Peloton Is Collecting Dust
This is the same reason most home gyms are abandoned after a bit. It’s not your fault. (Most) Humans aren’t cut out for isolation and 👇
it can be really hard to be the only person you’re accountable to for extended periods of time. (hint: this is why personal trainers, boutique fitness, and coaching works)
There is so much value in conversation. The back and forth. The yoga teacher who can walk over and fix your form in real time. And the health coach who can help you navigate tricky situations.
Taking it a little farther, community has a plethora of individual experiences to draw on for advice, validation, and lessons. AI can’t replace that.
And here’s a secret: there’s a free community right here. In addition to the free masterclass (you can join below), I’ve just added a community chat space so you can connect + share experiences with each other.
Technology 🤝 Community connection.
See you inside.
xo, Tara

Do you write a newsletter (for yourself or a company)?
I’ve recently moved my newsletter over to beehiiv and I’ve been loving the platform. If you’re already writing a newsletter or want to start one, consider beehiiv. Having been in this space for a while writing for other people and myself and experience with multiple platforms, I’d recommend beehiiv for both growth and monetization (yes, even over flodesk, kit, and substack).
